Appalachian Power representatives plan to rebuild approximately 20 miles of transmission line in Kanawha, Lincoln, and Boone counties. The Alum Creek-Madison Transmission Line Rebuild Project will increase electric reliability by replacing aging infrastructure with modern equipment.
Appalachian Power representatives plan to rebuild approximately 17 miles of transmission line in Wyoming and McDowell counties in West Virginia. The Baileysville-Rockridge Transmission Line Rebuild Project will increase electric reliability by replacing aging infrastructure with modern equipment.
Appalachian Power representatives plan to rebuild approximately 15 miles of transmission line in Kanawha County, Putnam County and the City of Nitro. The Bancroft-Turner Transmission Line Rebuild Project will increase electric reliability by replacing aging infrastructure with modern equipment.
Appalachian Power and its affiliate, West Virginia Transmission Co., plan to improve the power grid in southern West Virginia by investing $60 million in the transmission system in Boone, Logan and Wyoming counties. The Becco - Kopperston Transmission Line Project will reduce stress on the system.
Construction is currently underway and is expected to be complete the fall of 2020.
Appalachian Power plans to increase reliability to customers in central West Virginia by investing $100 million in its transmission system. The Boone County Area Improvements Project is a two-phase project that features major upgrades in Boone and Kanawha counties. Both phases are expected to be completed by the end of 2020.
Appalachian Power and its affiliate, AEP West Virginia Transmission Co. Inc., plan to upgrade the electric transmission grid in Fayette and Raleigh counties. The Bradley – Scarbro Transmission Line Project will provide customers with a more robust electric system.
Electric customers in northern West Virginia can expect better service reliability as a result of upcoming power grid upgrades. Plans are under way to update about 6 miles of 69-kilovolt transmission line in Ohio and Marshall counties to modernize the equipment and reduce the likelihood of power outages.

Appalachian Power representatives plan to increase electric reliability by making upgrades in Fayette County, West Virginia. The Carbondale-Kincaid Transmission Line Rebuild Project involves rebuilding approximately 14 miles of transmission line.
Appalachian Power and its affiliate, AEP West Virginia Transmission Company Inc., plan to increase electric reliability by making upgrades to the power grid in southern West Virginia. The Crab Orchard Area Improvements project will provide customers with a more robust electric system.
Appalachian Power representatives plan to increase electric reliability by making upgrades in Kanawha County in West Virginia. The Hernshaw Area Improvements Project involves building 4 miles of new electric transmission line and upgrading an existing substation in the area.
Construction is expected to begin Winter 2021 and conclude by the end of 2022.
Appalachian Power, along with its affiliate West Virginia Transmission Co., plan to strengthen the transmission grid in Huntington by upgrading the electrical system. Work is expected to start in early 2018 and be complete by the fall.
The Kenna Area Transmission Line Project involves building approximately 20 miles of electric transmission line in Jackson and Kanawha counties. Plans also include building a new substation and upgrading two substations in the area.

The Lakin-Racine Transmission Line Rebuild Project involves rebuilding approximately 13 miles of transmission line and upgrading a substation in the area.
Appalachian Power and its affiliate, West Virginia Transmission Co., plan to increase electric reliability to customers in Southern West Virginia by investing $90 million in its transmission system. The Lincoln - Logan Power Improvements will reduce the likelihood of extended outages by providing the region with a secondary power source.
Appalachian Power plans to strengthen the power grid in Fayette and Greenbrier counties by investing in the transmission system. The Meadow Bridge Transmission Line Upgrade project will increase electric reliability by replacing aging infrastructure.
Appalachian Power plans to strengthen the electric system in Wyoming County by investing in the transmission system. The Pineville Area Power Improvements will replace aging infrastructure with modern technology and will reduce the length and frequency of outages.
Appalachian Power plans to rebuild approximately 30 miles of transmission line to increase electric reliability for customers in Jackson and Mason counties. Estimated budget for the project is $60 million.
Appalachian Power representatives plan to increase electric reliability by making upgrades to the power grid serving customers in Raleigh and Wyoming counties. The Trap Hill Area Transmission Line Project involves upgrading approximately 6 miles of electric transmission line and building a new station. Company representatives expect construction to begin in summer of 2022 and conclude by March 2024.
