Projects Pending Approval

Belfry Area Transmission Line Project

Kentucky Power representatives plan to upgrade the electric transmission grid in Pike County. The Belfry Area Transmission Line Project in Pike County involves building 6-8 miles of 69-kilovolt (kV) electric transmission line, and an electrical substation to enhance electric reliability for customers.

Garrett Area Transmission Line Project

Kentucky Power officials plan to upgrade the electric transmission grid in Floyd and Knott counties. The Garrett Area Transmission Line Project involves building approximately 15 miles of 138-kilovolt (kV) electric transmission line, building an electrical substation and improving several other substations to enhance electric reliability for customers.

Wooton - Stinnett Transmission Line Rebuild Project

Kentucky Power plans to upgrade the electric transmission grid in Leslie County. The Wooton - Stinnett Transmission Line Rebuild Project involves rebuilding about 11 miles of 161-kilovolt (kV) electric transmission line to enhance electric reliability for area customers.



Approved Projects

Hazard – Wooton Transmission Line Project

Kentucky Power plans to strengthen the power grid in eastern Kentucky by making upgrades to aging transmission infrastructure in Perry and Leslie counties.

EastPark Transmission Project

Kentucky Power plans to upgrade transmission equipment in Boyd County. The upgrades will provide a more robust power source to its customers. The company wants to provide continued reliable electric service and provide a transmission system capable of handling economic growth.

Kewanee - Enterprise Park 138-kV Transmission Project

Kentucky Power is looking to improve the power grid and increase economic growth opportunities in eastern Kentucky by building a new transmission line and a new substation.
