Appalachian Power representatives plan to upgrade the local power grid in Campbell and Pittsylvania counties. Crews expect construction to begin in late 2026 and for the project to be in service by late 2027.
October 23, 2024: Appalachian Power invites community members and landowners in the project area to an in-person open house November 13, 2024 from 5 – 7 p.m. at Altavista Elementary School – 2190 Lynch Mill Road, Altavista VA 24517.

Crews plan to install steel H-frame and single-pole structures
At select locations, crews may use lattice towers and three-pole steel structures to meet engineering needs. Proposed structures are an average of 30 feet shorter than the existing lattice towers and 20 feet taller than the existing H-frame structures.
