Southwestern Electric Power Company (SWEPCO) representatives plan to upgrade about 19 miles of electric transmission line in Howard and Pike counties. Crews plan to begin construction in late fall 2025 and conclude in summer 2026.
Early 2025: SWEPCO representatives plan for survey crews to conduct environmental surveys along the power line route in early 2025. Survey activities include collecting topographical data such as the location of streams, wetlands and potential habitats for endangered species. State and federal agencies require us to complete these surveys. Some of the survey work may require crews to place stakes and ribbon within the company’s easement on your property. Crews plan to complete these environmental surveys in early 2025.
