South Cass CountyTransmission Line Project

Indiana Michigan Power (I&M) representatives plan power grid upgrades to improve electric reliability for customers in southern Cass County.

The project involves:

  • Building approximately 3 miles of 138-kilovolt electric transmission line connecting Surges Substation in Milton Township to an existing transmission line.
  • Expanding the existing Surges Road Substation near its current location.

The project strengthens the electric transmission system by providing an additional power source to the area and supports the growing demand for electricity.

Project Updates

May 2024: As the project moves forward, I&M representatives planned environmental surveys involve collecting topographical data such as the location of streams, wetlands and potential habitats for endangered species. OR Colan continues to represent, I&M as the right-of-way representative on this project and are available to answer any additional questions.
