Appalachian Power and its affiliate, West Virginia Transmission Co., plan to strengthen electric reliability in southern West Virginia by making significant upgrades to the transmission system serving customers in Lincoln and Logan counties.
The Lincoln - Logan Power Improvements project includes building approximately 24 miles of new transmission line, two new substations and retiring about 17 miles of aging transmission line. The portion of line traveling south from the Sheridan Substation to the Midkiff Substation is expected to be in service by Summer 2021. Crews expect to complete all construction by the end of 2021.
