BrosvilleTransmission Upgrades

Appalachian Power representatives plan to upgrade the electric transmission system in Pittsylvania County. The Brosville Transmission Upgrades include building a substation and approximately 2 miles of transmission line.

Project Updates

12/6/2023: Construction is under way on the new substation and transmission line. The upgrades are expected to be in service in spring 2024.

10/16/2023: The Pittsylvania County Board of Zoning Appeals approved the Special Use Permit for the Brosville Transmission Upgrades Project without condition. Construction is expected to begin imminently.

08/29/2023: The project team has applied for a Special Use Permit with Pittsylvania County. If the permit is approved by the Board of Zoning Appeals at its 10/12/2023 meeting, construction would start soon thereafter.

07/06/22: Company representatives have determined a proposed power line route after reviewing land use, environmental impact and community input provided during an in-person open house held this spring. Landowners along the proposed line route can expect to hear from Appalachian Power’s right-of-way representative on the project.

04/14/2022: Appalachian Power representatives invite community members and landowners in the project area to learn more and provide input by attending an in-person open house later this month. There is no formal presentation and landowners may come and go at any time during the two-hour event:

  • Thursday, April 28 from 5-7 p.m. at Brosville Elementary School, 195 Bulldog Lane in Danville

Landowners are encouraged to submit their feedback about the project by Monday, May 2. Comments on how this project affects your property or provide special conditions related to your property, you may use the comment form below or call 833-313-3743.
