Pirkey - ScottsvilleTransmission Improvements Project

SWEPCO representatives plan to improve reliability in the Marshall area by rebuilding about 19 miles of 138-kilovolt transmission line.

The project:

  • Replaces deteriorating wooden structures that were installed in the early 1940s and have exceeded their service life
  • Allows crews to clear the transmission line right-of-way, reducing tree-related outages and providing clear access for crews in case of emergency maintenance
  • Reduces the frequency of maintenance
  • Enhances the line's operational performance and reliability

Project Updates

SWEPCO representatives plan to host a public open house from 5 - 7 p.m. on Oct. 14, 2023, at Marshall Junior High School (2710 E. Travis Street, Marshall, TX). Landowners are welcomed to view detailed maps, talk to project team members and learn more about the project. There is no formal presentation, so attendees can arrive at any time during the event.
