AEP Texas representatives plan power grid upgrades to improve electric reliability for customers in San Juan and Hildalgo County. The Lion Transmission Line Project involves building a new 138-kilovolt (kV) transmission line and a new electrical substation to strengthen the local transmission system.
October 2022 - AEP Texas representatives hosted an open house on Thursday, September 29 from 2-7 p.m. at Cambria Hotel McAllen Convention Center located at 701 S Ware Road in McAllen. During these hours, attendees had the opportunity to hear from the AEP Texas project team about the project including information about project plans, the PUC regulatory approval process, the project need and benefits and the routing analysis process.
Company representatives plan to file a Certificate of Convenience and Necessity (CCN) with the Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUC) following a review of public input on route link development and additional route analysis. Project officials expect to file a CCN application by early 2023.
