Gilmer - PittsburgTransmission Line Replacement Project

SWEPCO representatives plan to improve electric reliability in east Texas by rebuilding approximately 23 miles of 69-kilovolt transmission line in Upshur and Camp counties. The project:

  • Replaces 23 miles of 69-kilovolt line
  • Replaces existing wooden poles with single steel poles
  • Relocates portions of the line from its existing location
  • Removes trees and woody-stemmed vegetation that have grown within SWEPCO’s right-of-way

Project Updates

SWEPCO representatives plan to host a public open house from 5 – 7 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 18, 2024, at the Gilmer Civic Center (Etex Room), located at 1218 U.S. Highway 271 North in Gilmer.

Landowners are welcome to view detailed maps, talk to project team members and learn more about the project. There is no formal presentation, so attendees can arrive at any time during the event.
