Public Service Company of Oklahoma (PSO) representatives plan to upgrade the electric transmission system in Grady and Caddo counties. Crews plan to begin construction in early spring 2023 and conclude in early fall 2023.
This project involves rebuilding about 18 miles of power line with steel single-pole structures and upgrading area substations to increase electric reliability for customers, reduce maintenance frequency and strengthen the line against weather and other environmental impacts.
Fall 2023: Crews and PSO representatives completed construction on this rebuild project and placed facilities in service on Sept. 22, 2023.
Early 2023: As PSO representatives prepare to rebuild the line, crews plan to begin installing gates and culverts in early February on select properties along the power line route. The gates and culverts allow PSO representatives to safely access areas within the company’s easements. PSO representatives plan to begin construction in early March in western Grady County working toward the structure in southwest Chickasha. Following that, crews plan to work back toward the Cyril Substation and conclude there in early fall 2023.
Fall 2021: PSO crews and contractors plan to perform surveying work in fall 2021 within the utility's right-of-way along and adjacent to the line route. Some of the survey work may require crews to place stakes and ribbon within the company's easement* on your property. Crews plan to use existing streets and pathways wherever possible to access the easement area. PSO takes responsibility should any damage result from the surveying work.
* Company representatives plan to rebuild the power line in the existing right-of-way, which may require acquiring new or updating existing property easements. Easements are defined land rights that property owners grant the utility to allow for the safe construction, operation and maintenance of the power line.
