AEP Ohio representatives plan power grid upgrades to improve electric reliability for customers in Mead Township and the village of Shadyside. The Shadyside Transmission Line Extension Project involves building approximately 2 miles of 69-kilovolt power line and retiring about 2 miles of power line.
Company representatives plan to build the power line in an approximate 50-100 foot right-of-way corridor and plan to acquire new property easements to ensure the safe construction, operation and maintenance of the line. Easements are defined land rights that property owners grant the utility to allow for the safe construction, operation and maintenance of the power line. Crews expect to begin construction fall 2026 and conclude summer 2028.
Summer 2024: Final Line route was announced.
Property ROW LLC (PROW), serves as AEP Ohio’s right-of-way representative on this project. Landowners along the proposed power line route can expect to hear from a PROW right-of-way agent in the upcoming weeks.
