Rarden - RosemountArea Improvements Project
AEP Ohio representatives plan to upgrade the electric transmission network serving customers in Adams and Scioto counties. The improvements provide an additional source of electricity to the area to ensure service reliability during equipment maintenance and speed recovery of service during an outage.
The project involves:
- Building approximately 25 miles of 69-kilovolt transmission line
- Building three new substations (Pipestone, McDermott and Otway)
- Rebuilding the Rarden Substation
Project Updates
Early 2025: Company representatives continue to conduct field surveys. Crews anticipate starting construction in fall 2026.
Company representatives announced an adjusted final line route between the McDermott and Pipestone substations in 2022. Landowners can expect to hear from a representative from Contract Land Staff, the right-of-way agency representing AEP.
