Power grid upgrades are under way to strengthen the electric system in Monroe, Noble and Washington counties. AEP Ohio and local electric cooperatives are coordinating efforts on the Southeast Ohio Area Improvements Project. The approximate $250 million investment by AEP Ohio involves building 55 miles of power line, building three substations and upgrading other electrical facilities to increase service reliability and support economic growth.
The Lamping - Rouse 138-kV Transmission Line Project is part of the multi-phase Southeast Ohio Area Improvements Project. This phase involves building approximately 5 miles of power line between the Lamping and Rouse substations.
Early 2020: Construction is complete. Crews are working on restoration.
