Indiana Michigan Power representatives plan power grid upgrades to improve electric reliability for area customers.
The FourFlag Transmission Line Project involves:
The project strengthens the local electric transmission system by replacing aging wire and wooden poles dating back to the 1950s with modern steel poles. The improvements help protect the power line from severe weather impacts and reduce the likelihood of extended power outages.
September 2023: Since the project announcement in summer 2022, I&M representatives have been performing field activities, as well as designing and engineering the line. As the project has progressed, we found the need to adjust the originally proposed timeline. Company officials now expect construction to begin early 2026 and conclude later that summer.
July 2022: O.R. Colan (ORC) serves as I&M's right-of-way representative for this project. If you want to reach out to a right-of-way agent with immediate questions, please contact Laura Griffith at (269) 674-9485 or lgriffith@orcolan.com. Right-of-way agents are limiting in-person visits with customers during this process to ensure the public's safety and health during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The project involves installing steel poles.
Typical Pole Height: Approximately 100 feet*
Right-of-Way Width: Approximately 60 feet*
*Exact structure, height and right-of-way requirements may vary
