Indiana Michigan Power (I&M), part of the American Electric Power (AEP) family, is investing in new transmission assets in Allen County and Fort Wayne to support a customer’s facility and help meet the area’s growing energy needs.

Community Benefits:

• Indiana Michigan Power (I&M) is committed to serving new customers and building transmission assets to meet the area’s growing electrical demand.
• I&M has an obligation to serve new customers.
• Station expansion and line upgrades increases the capacity and reliability of the local and regional power grid. Allen Station is pivotal to Fort Wayne infrastructure and enhances reliability.
• Large load customers may provide opportunities to reduce or sustain area electric rates and support local community facilities and programs.
• Increased height of single poles compared to previous lattice infrastructure provides additional clearance for farming equipment.

The Allen Station Expansion - Zodiac Transmission Line Rebuild Project consists of:

• Building Zodiac Substation off East Paulding Road.
• Rebuilding approx. 4 miles of parallelled transmission lines between Allen and Zodiac substations.
• Relocating approx. 1 mile of transmission line to accommodate a city project which will expand off Adams Center Road.
• Securing all necessary easements and filing required permits for work on company owned property, to move forward responsibly, in full compliance.
