Indiana Michigan Power (I&M) will upgrade the 138-kilovolt (kV) transmission line that begins near the Delaware Substation in Muncie to the Madison Substation in Anderson. The improvements in Delaware and Madison counties are essential to ensure continued reliable electricity is available for local customers. The existing transmission infrastructure has reached an age where it is in need of replacement to lessen the potential for power outages and to speed recovery of service when outages occur.
Rebuilding approximately 21 miles of double-circuit 138-kV transmission line decreases potential outages and speeds recovery of service when outages occur.
Fall 2017: I&M announced the final proposed line route for the Muncie - Anderson Transmission Line Rebuild Project. The announcement follows an open house held in September, which provided information about the project and provided property owners with the opportunity to ask questions and provide feedback on the line route and proposed study segments. Details around the final proposed line route can be viewed on the interactive map above.
