ShadysideTransmission Line Extension Project

AEP Ohio representatives plan power grid upgrades to improve electric reliability for customers in Mead Township and the village of Shadyside. The Shadyside Transmission Line Extension Project involves building approximately 2 miles of 69-kilovolt power line and retiring about 2 miles of power line.

Company representatives plan to build the power line in an approximate 50-100 foot right-of-way corridor and plan to acquire new property easements to ensure the safe construction, operation and maintenance of the line. Easements are defined land rights that property owners grant the utility to allow for the safe construction, operation and maintenance of the power line.

Project Updates

Summer 2024: Following a public open house in winter 2022, AEP Ohio representatives continue to evaluate possible study segments to determine a location of the final line route.

AEP Ohio officials regularly review and adjust power grid improvements and project schedules to maximize customer benefit. Schedule adjustments are currently ongoing to allow us to invest in areas of the project grid with the most significant near-term needs. We plan to update landowners on schedule changes when information becomes available.
