Lamping - WoodsfieldTransmission Line Project
AEP Ohio representatives plan power grid upgrades to improve electric reliability for South Central Power and Woodsfield Municipal Electric customers in Monroe County. The Lamping-Woodsfield Transmission Line Project involves building about 10 miles of 69-kilovolt transmission line and upgrading a substation.
Company representatives plan to evaluate a potential route for the new power line by identifying study segments. Study segments are multiple alternatives presented to determine a line route. Company representatives do not build all study segments. Rather, they select a series of study segments to create a potential line route based on public feedback and feasibility studies.
Project Updates
February 2026: The Lamping-Woodsfield Transmission Line Project was previously announced in June 2020 with a virtual open house before being placed on hold while the team evaluated route options. Now, AEP Ohio representatives are re-engaging the project.
Plan to join us for an in-person open house from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. on February 19 at Brown Community Center located at 100 Creamery Street in Woodsfield. Attendees can view detailed maps, talk with the project representatives and ask questions about the project. There's no formal presentation, so you can come and go at any time.
