East Logan - South LancasterTransmission Line Rebuild Project

AEP Ohio representatives plan to upgrade the electric transmission network serving customers in Fairfield and Hocking counties.

The project involves:

  • Rebuilding about 15 miles of 69-kV transmission line from East Logan Substation, located off East Front Street in Logan, to South Lancaster Substation, located off Sugar Grove Road in Lancaster.
  • Replacing aging lattice towers and wooden poles with single steel poles
  • Removing about 2 miles of transmission facilities

Improvements to the nearly 100-year-old power line reduce the likelihood of larger, sustained community power outages by replacing deteriorating steel lattice and wooden poles. An upgrade to modern steel poles reduces the need for frequent power line maintenance and improves the line’s operational performance.

Company representatives plan to complete upgrades in or near it’s current location in most areas.

Project Updates

Early 2024: Company representatives announced this project in spring 2022 with construction beginning fall 2023. Construction has not started and company representatives are currently revising the project schedule. We plan to provide a project update later this year.
