Indiana Michigan Power representatives plan to strengthen local grid reliability with the Concord - Mackey Transmission Line Rebuild project.
The Concord - Mackey Transmission Line Rebuild project involves rebuilding approximately 1.5 miles of existing transmission line to improve service reliability and reduce the risk of outages for area customers. The upgrades help the grid carry power more efficiently and reduce the risk of overloads when other equipment is temporarily out of service. Strengthening this portion of the grid supports safe, reliable electric service for customers.
Company representatives plan to rebuild most of the transmission line in the existing right-of-way. Construction may require obtaining new or updated property easements. Easements are defined land rights granted to the utility to allow for the safe construction, operations and maintenance of the transmission facilities.
Spring 2026: Company representatives announced the Concord - Mackey Transmission Line Rebuild Project in April 2026. The project team is currently engaging in engineering and survey activities in preparation for construction to begin.
Construction is anticipated to begin in Fall 2027.
