Project Updates

The Mercers Bottom Transmission Project: Component 1 involves building two parallel approximately 1 mile 345-kilovolt (kV) electric transmission lines and a new substation. Construction is expected to begin in late 2024 and conclude by late 2025. The project team plans to announce Component 2 by spring 2024.

 

APPLICATION TO THE PUBLIC SERVICE COMMISSION OF WEST VIRGINIA

July 24, 2024: Contruction of the Mercers Bottom Substation has begun and is expected to be completed by December 2025. Construction of the two parallel approximately 1 mile 345-kilovolt electric transmission lines is expected to begin August 2024 and completed by November 2024. 

December 18, 2023: Appalachian Power representatives have submitted the project to the Public Service Commission of West Virginia (PSC) seeking approval for the upgrades. Updates on the status of the Application can be found on the Commission’s website at www.psc.state.wv.us.
