Appalachian Power and its affiliate, AEP West Virginia Transmission Company, Inc., plan to increase electric reliability to customers in Kanawha County by making upgrades to the existing transmission grid.
The Cabin Creek - Clendenin Transmission Line Rebuild Project consists of upgrading approximately 18 miles of transmission line to 69-kilovolt standards. Existing substations along the transmission line will also be upgraded to accommodate the increase in voltage.
Construction is expected to start fall 2018 and be complete by the end of 2020.
10/15/18 -- Crews have begun clearing trees and building access roads in areas where we have acquired easements.
12/31/2018 - Appalachian Power has determined a proposed line route for the Cabin Creek - Clendenin Transmission Line Rebuild Project. The route was determined following an informational open house in November. Appalachian Power right-of-way representatives from Emerald Energy will start the process of reaching out to directly involved landowners to discuss upcoming activities.
11/29/2017 - Appalachian Power held an open house at Cedar Grove Middle School to introduce study segments, answer questions related to the project and gather feedback from the community.
