The project team is reviewing alternatives and modifications to previously introduced route options to rebuild the transmission line, focusing on solutions that will avoid Meeks Mountain Trails while minimizing impacts on the community. New and/or modified route options will be shared with the public in 2025 to gather additional input before selecting a proposed line route.

Bancroft - MiltonTransmission Line Rebuild Project

The Bancroft-Milton Transmission Line Rebuild Project involves rebuilding approximately 20 miles of transmission line.

The project team is seeking community input on route options at select points along the line route to rebuild the line.

Construction begins Summer 2028 and concludes Spring 2031.

Project Updates

October 24, 2024: The project team continues to review input and work closely with community stakeholders. We are reviewing alternatives and modifications to previously introduced route options to rebuild the transmission line, focusing on solutions that will avoid Meeks Mountain Trails while minimizing impacts on the community. We plan to host additional open houses in spring 2025 to collect input on the modified and new route options for the transmission line rebuild before selecting a proposed line route. Landowners located near the modified or new route options and attendees from the previous open houses will be notified in the weeks leading up to the open house.

July 25, 2024: Appalachian Power invites community members and landowners in the project area to an in-person open house to speak with project members to learn more. There is no formal presentation, so landowners can attend at any time at a location most convenient to them. The project team plans to share the same information at each event.

Tuesday, August 13 from 4:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. - Valley Park Conference Center, 1 Valley Park Drive Hurricane, WV 25526

Wednesday, August 14 from 4:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. - Winfield Community Center, 178 Second Street Winfield, WV 25213

Landowners are encouraged to submit their feedback about the project by Friday, August 30. To provide comments on how this project affects your property or special conditions related to your property, you may use the comment form below or call 833-313-3743.
