In the second phase of the Abingdon and Washington County Improvements Project, Appalachian Power plans to develop a solution that addresses the region’s need for a modern and robust transmission grid capable of handling continued growth.
Appalachian Power started the process by seeking public input at an open house in September 2015. From those comments, the company has developed study segments for a proposed transmission line that would run from a new South Abingdon Substation along Vances Mill Road, to its existing Arrowhead Substation east of Jeb Stuart Highway.
