Washington CountyImprovements Project: South Abingdon - Arrowhead

Appalachian Power representatives plan upgrades to the electric transmission grid in Washington County. The Washington County Improvements Project: South Abingdon-Arrowhead involves building approximately 6.5 miles of 69-kilovolt (kV) transmission line and upgrading three substations.

Company representatives previously announced this project and hosted an open house in September 2015 before placing the project on hold. After resuming the project last year, the project team reviewed landowner feedback and conducted additional route reviews to determine a proposed route for the power line. The team now seeks feedback on the proposed route. Construction begins spring 2024 and concludes spring 2025.
