Mount Pleasant - PettyTransmission Improvements Project


Southwestern Electric Power Company (SWEPCO) plans to strengthen the grid in the Mount Pleasant area by rebuilding 2-3 miles of electric transmission line.

The project involves:

  • Rebuilding, relocating and upgrading the transmission line stretching between SWEPCO's Mount Pleasant and Petty substations
  • Upgrading substation equipment
  • Removing or trimming trees and woody-stemmed vegetation that have grown within SWEPCO's right-of-way

Project Updates

SWEPCO invites you to attend an in-person open house on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, from 5-7 p.m. at the Mount Pleasant Civic Center (1800 North Jefferson Avenue, Mount Pleasant). Attendees can view detailed maps and learn more about the project, construction process and SWEPCO's vegetation management program. There is no formal presentation, so you can arrive at any time during the event.
