AEP Texas representatives plan to upgrade the electric transmission grid in Laredo by installing new wire, or conductor, to the existing transmission line and poles. The North Laredo Transmission Improvements Project involves upgrading approximately 12 miles of 138-kilovolt (kV) electric transmission line to enhance electric reliability.
The project team will begin installing wire, or conductor, along the existing transmission line structures beginning January 2024.
AEP Texas serves more than 900,000 electric consumers in the deregulated Texas marketplace.
