AEP Ohio representatives plan power grid upgrades in Paulding and Van Wert counties. The upgrades improve electric reliability for customers and increase electric capacity for future economic development in the area.
The project involves upgrading about 10 miles of 69-kilovolt (kV) transmission line that connects Haviland and Van Wert substations with a 138-kV power line. While company representatives plan to build most of the power line in the existing right-of-way corridor, plans call for exploring other power line corridors in select areas.
The project replaces aging equipment dating back to the 1920s with modern facilities. These improvements reduce the likelihood of future power outages and increase the power line capacity to support the growing electrical load in the area..
We are requesting feedback on possible study segments for the transmission line. Your feedback is important to us and helps our team determine a power line route that minimizes impacts to the community and environment. No final line route has been determined..
AEP Ohio representatives invite the community to attend an in-person open house from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 13, at the Trinity Friends Church Gymnasium located at 605 North Franklin Street in Van Wert. There is no formal presentation, so you can arrive at any time during the event. You can view detailed maps and talk with team members about the proposed study segments. Please share your input by Friday, June 28, 2024.
The project involves installing steel poles
Typical Pole Height: Approximately 85 feet*
Typical Right-of-Way Width: Approximately 100 feet*
*Exact structure types, height and right-of-way requirements may vary
