AEP Ohio representatives plan power grid upgrades to strengthen electric reliability for customers in Fairfield, Licking, Muskingum and Coshocton counties. The Conesville - Bixby 345-kV Transmission Line Rebuild Project involves rebuilding 41 miles of transmission line between Conesville and Bixby substations.
These planned improvements strengthen the local electric system by replacing deteriorating wooden poles from the 1970s with modern steel structures. Rebuilding the transmission line improves operational performance, reduces the likelihood of extended power outages and enhances electric reliability for area customers.
Crews plan to rebuild the transmission line within or near the existing right-of-way corridor and may need to update or supplement current easements. Easements are defined land rights that provide the utility with access needed to safely build, operate and maintain power lines.
