AEP Ohio representatives plan to upgrade the electric transmission network serving customers in Crawford County. The Bucyrus-East Bucyrus Area Improvements project involves updating just over 2 miles of 69-kilovolt transmission line between the Bucyrus Substation, located off Southern Avenue, and the East Bucyrus Substation, located off Lincoln Highway.
Upgrading the transmission infrastructure ensures the power grid complies with current engineering and safety standards and supports the area's need for reliable power. Company representatives plan to evaluate possible route options to help determine the location of the improvements. Input from the community helps determine the location of the final line route.
Route options are multiple alternatives presented to determine a line route. Company representatives do not build all route options, but rather they select one route to build based on public feedback and feasibility.
Early 2023: AEP Ohio representatives announced the final line route following a project open house and feedback from the community. Landowners along the potential power line route can expect to hear from right-of-way agents.
Early 2022: AEP Ohio representatives invite the community to attend a virtual open house to access additional project information and share input on possible route options under evaluation.
Please share your input by Monday, March 7.
The project involves the use of single steel poles.
Pole Height: Approximately 90 feet
Right-of-Way Width: Approximately 60 feet
*Exact structure, height and right-of-way may vary
