Indiana Michigan Power (I&M) plans to strengthen the electric transmission system in eastern Indiana. The proposed improvements in Adams County involve rebuilding about 10.5 miles of power line. The project involves rebuilding some sections of line in the company’s current right-of-way. Other sections of the project may include re-routes and require new easements. These improvements would increase reliability, reduce power outages and speed recovery of service when outages occur.
I&M representatives seek input from community members and landowners in the project area to help determine the final power line route.
Fall 2019 - Indiana Michigan Power (I&M) announces the Monroe Area Transmission Line Rebuild Project
A public Open House will be held to gather input from local residents. Representatives from I&M will be available to discuss specific aspects of the project and to answer questions residents may have. Feedback from the community will be gathered from this event and used to help determine the final proposed line route. The Open House will be informal, and can be attended at any time during the evening and is scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 6 from 5:30 PM-7:30 PM at the Monroe Volunteer Fire Department - 223 Tower Dr., Monroe, IN.
I&M will replace aging wood poles with steel monopole structures averaging 75-feet in height. Structures will be placed within a 60-foot right-of-way.
Portions of the line will be built in or adjacent to the existing right-of-way, other areas will require construction in new areas and with new easements.
