Indiana Michigan Power (I&M) representatives plan to upgrade the electric transmission network serving customers in northeast Indiana. The project involves rebuilding about 140 miles of 138-kilovolt transmission line and upgrading two substations. The project increases electric reliability in the area. Plans call for rebuilding the transmission line in the existing right-of-way, although company representatives might need to acquire new easements or supplement current easements to ensure the safe construction, operation and maintenance of the line.
August 2024: two portions of the rebuild remain near the College Corner area. Construction is expected to be completed by the end of the year.
