Bloomburg - South TexarkanaTransmission Line Rebuild Project
Southwestern Electric Power Company (SWEPCO) representatives plan to rebuild approximately 13.5 miles of electric transmission line in Miller County. This project strengthens the local electric system and provides more reliable service in the south Texarkana region. Crews plan to start construction in summer 2026 and conclude in spring 2027.
PROJECT UPDATES
Spring 2024: As this project has evolved, the timeline has shifted. SWEPCO representatives plan for the following schedule:
- Summer 2026: Pre-construction activities begin.
- To safely perform construction on this project, crews may need to first trim or remove trees and other woody-stemmed vegetation from SWEPCO's right-of-way. This allows for the safe operation and maintenance of the transmission line.
- Crews install temporary gates, fencing and access roads. This work may also include installing culverts for water management.
- Summer 2026 - Spring 2027: Transmission line construction.
- Crews install new steel poles and remove existing wooden poles.
- Spring 2027: Facilities placed in service and restoration activities begin.
