Winfield - WinnsboroTransmission Improvements Project

The Winfield - Winnsboro Transmission Improvements Project involves rebuilding approximately 35 miles of 69-kilovolt transmission line. The line was constructed more than 70 years ago and has reached the end of its planned service life. The project replaces deteriorating wooden poles, strengthens the local power system, and decreases the severity and likelihood of wide, community-sustained power outages.

Project Updates

Early 2026: SWEPCO representatives are currently re-evaluating the timeline and are expecting construction to begin late 2026 and conclude spring 2028.

Spring 2025: SWEPCO representatives invite you to attend an in-person open house on Tuesday, March 11, 2025 from 5-7 p.m. at First Baptist Church Mount Vernon (319 Kaufman St. S, Mount Vernon, TX 75457).

Landowners are welcome to attend the open house to view detailed maps and learn more about the project, the construction process and SWEPCO’s vegetation management program. There is no formal presentation, so you can arrive at any time during the event.
