AEP Ohio representatives plan to upgrade the electric transmission network serving customers in Crawford County. The Sycamore-Bucyrus Area Improvements project involves building just under 15 miles of 69-kilovolt (kV) transmission line between the North Central Cooperative Sycamore Substation, located off Crawford Wyandot Line Road in Sycamore, and the AEP Ohio Bucyrus Center Substation, located off Quaker Road in Bucyrus.
Creating a looped service adds redundancy. In the event a line experiences an outage, the other line can continue to serve customers. A stronger transmission grid benefits the local distribution companies and electric cooperatives, such as North Central Cooperative, who receive power from the transmission lines.
The project involves:
Spring 2024: Construction is underway and expected to conclude in spring 2028.
Spring 2022: Company representatives announced the proposed final line route. Landowners can expect to hear from a representative from OR Colan, the right-of-way agency representing AEP.
