AEP Ohio representatives plan to upgrade the electric transmission network serving customers in Seneca County. The Republic-Tiffin Area Improvements project involves building about 8 miles of 69-kilovolt transmission line from the North Central Cooperative Republic Substation, located off OH-18 in Republic, to the AEP Ohio Tiffin Substation, located off North State Route 101 in Tiffin.
Customers currently receive electricity from a single power line that has experienced below-average reliability. Building a new power line creates a second source of electricity and enhances electric reliablity in the area. In the event the line experiences an outage, or needs maintenance, the other line can continue to serve customers. A stronger transmission grid benefits the local distribution companies and electric cooperatives, such as North Central Cooperative, who receive power from the transmission lines.
Spring 2024: Construction is ongoing and is scheduled to be completed fall 2025.
Late 2021: AEP Ohio project representatives announced the final line route. Landowners can expect to hear from a representative from Property ROW.
The project involves the use of single, steel poles.
