Rarden - Rosemount Area Improvements Project
AEP Transmission representatives plan to upgrade the electric transmission network serving customers in Adams and Scioto counties. The improvements provide an additional source of electricity to the area to ensure service reliability during equipment maintenance and speed recovery of service during an outage.
The project involves:
- Building approximately 25 miles of 69-kilovolt transmission line
- Building three new substations (Pipestone, McDermott and Otway)
- Rebuilding the Rarden Substation
Project Updates
Fall 2026: AEP Transmission crews and contractors began tree clearing and constructing access roads in fall 2025 and plan to resume these activities in mid-October. This work is expected to continue through early 2027, subject to weather and other factors.
Transmission line construction is scheduled to begin in spring 2027 and continue through late 2028. AEP Transmission representatives will take all necessary precautions to help ensure public safety throughout construction.
