AEP Ohio representatives plan power grid upgrades to improve electric reliability for customers in Perry and Muskingum counties. The Crooksville-Philo Transmission Line Rebuild Project involves upgrading about 12 miles of power line and replacing one wooden pole with a larger steel pole. Representatives plan to rebuild the power line in the existing right-of-way, although they might need to acquire new or supplement current property easements. Easements are defined land rights that property owners grant the utility to allow for the safe construction, operation, and maintenance of the power line.
Company officials must obtain approval from the Ohio Power Siting Board to begin construction this fall. Plans call for rebuilding the line in two phases and finishing construction in early 2024.
Summer 2023: Construction is ongoing and is schedule to be completed fall 2023.
