Ellerbe Road - Fern StreetTransmission Improvements Project

SWEPCO plans to strengthen the electric grid in Shreveport by relocating approximately 2.5 miles of 69-kilovolt (kV) transmission line.

The project involves:

• Relocating portions of the existing Ellerbe-Fern transmission line
• Improvements to the Ellerbe Road and Fern Street substations
• Managing trees and woody-stemmed vegetation that have grown within SWEPCO’s right-of-way
• Removing transmission-related infrastructure from existing poles along the existing line route

Spring 2025: SWEPCO representatives hosted a public open house on Monday, June 9, at the A.B. Palmer Recreation Center. Landowners had the opportunity to learn more about the project, view detailed maps and talk with team members.
