Indiana Michigan Power representatives plan to upgrade the electric transmission network serving customers in eastern Indiana. The project involves:
The project increases electric reliability in the area. Company representatives plan to rebuild some sections of the power line in the existing right-of-way, which could require updating or supplementing current easements. Other sections of the project may include re-routes that would require new easements.
Fall 2024: As the project progresses, I&M representatives continue to work on the design and engineering of the upgrade to the power grid. As a result, the project timeline has shifted, and construction is expected to begin in 2027.
Winter 2021: Company representatives announced the Winchester Area Improvements Project in November 2020. The project team hosted a virtual open house to introduce proposed study segments and answer questions related to the project at the end of 2020. Company representatives proposed a route for the 1-mile power line in January 2021.
The project involves installing steel poles.
