Southwestern Electric Power Company (SWEPCO) plans to make improvements to the local electric transmission system to ensure continued reliable power delivery to the Texarkana area. The Texarkana Area Improvements consists of rebuilding about 11 miles of 69-kilovolt (kV) transmission line to ensure continued reliable service to customers. Construction is expected to start in early 2018 and be completed by late 2019. The estimated project budget is $23 million.
Construction on this project is delayed as of January 2019. The project is under review and an update on a new construction schedule will be posted soon. Landowners along the line route will receive updates on the new construction schedule as well.
SWEPCO held a come-and-go informational open house to introduce the project on Thursday, May 4 from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at Texarkana Convention Center in Texarkana.
