Three Rivers – Poesta – TuletaTransmission Line Project

AEP Texas plans power grid upgrades to increase electric reliability in Live Oak and Bee counties. The Three Rivers – Poesta – Tuleta Transmission Line Project proposes building a 138-kilovolt power line and an electrical substation to strengthen the local transmission system and add a new power delivery source to the area. The Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUCT) approved a final line route for the project in March 2020.

Project Updates

AEP Texas hosted open houses in May 2017 to introduce proposed route links and answer questions related to the project, also known as the Three Rivers - Borglum - Tuleta Transmission Line Project. Visitors offered feedback, viewed maps and discussed the project with project team members.

Following review of the public input and additional route link analysis, AEP Texas filed a Certificate of Convenience and Necessity (CCN) application with the Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUCT) on April 5, 2019. The PUCT requires the CCN application to ask for approval of the project and to determine a final route for the Three Rivers – Poesta – Tuleta Transmission Line Project. The PUCT approved the project and a final line route for the project on March 26, 2020.
