Public Service Company of Oklahoma (PSO) and its affiliate, AEP Oklahoma Transmission Co., Inc. plan to invest approximately $63 million to upgrade over 60 miles of 138-kilovolt (kV) transmission line between Clinton and El Reno, Oklahoma. These upgrades will strengthen PSO's transmission system in western Oklahoma and provide significant improvement in electric service reliability in the area.
Construction between Hinton and Weatherford Junction was completed in May 2018. Construction work ended about 8 miles east of Weatherford Junction and the line is in service.
Beginning late this summer, PSO crews will begin to build the new 4-mile section of line just west of El Reno and rebuild approximately 5 miles of the existing 138 kV line to the existing PSO substation, the Canadian Natural Gas Substation. This section of line is expected to be complete by late Fall 2018.
This fall, construction on the approximately 12-mile section of line between Weatherford Junction Substation and Clinton Natural Gas Substation, near Custer City Road, will begin and is expected to be complete by early 2019.
Right-of-way agents continue to work with landowners along the transmission line route. They will provide notification of any field activities to affected landowners as the project progresses.
