SardiniaArea Improvements

AEP Ohio is improving the electric transmission system in Brown County. The Sardinia Area Improvements involves building about 5 miles of new 138-kilovolt (kV) transmission line, upgrading a substation and retiring about 12 miles of 69 kV transmission line.

Adding the new transmission line and upgrading the substation provides an additional power source to the electric transmission grid and updates aging infrastructure to provide reliable electricity to area customers.

The line will likely run through Eagle Township in Brown County, east of Sardinia. AEP Ohio anticipates building the new transmission line primarily with steel single pole structures that will be approximately 110-feet tall.

The projected costs of the upgrades are approximately $19 million.
