North WoosterArea Reinforcements

The need for improvements to the transmission system north of Wooster is essential to ensure an adequate supply of electricity is available for the area's industrial, commercial, and residential customers. Improvements reconfigure the design of the electric system by creating a loop. This loop adds redundancy, reducing power outages in the area and speeding recovery of service when outages occur.

Project components include:

  • Building a new Clutch Switch Substation
  • Constructing just over 2 miles of 69 kilovolt transmission line
  • Constructing a new Schafrath Switch

Project Updates

Early 2020: Phase 1 of the project is complete. Right-of-way agents are working with landowners on Phase 2.
