Carrollton-Sunnyside 138kV Transmission Line Rebuild Project

AEP Ohio Transmission Company, Inc., an affiliate of AEP Ohio, plans on improving the reliability of the electric transmission grid in Carroll and Stark counties. The Carrollton-Sunnyside 138kV Transmission Line Rebuild Project includes rebuilding about 20 miles of transmission line, which enhances the transmission infrastructure to provide a reliable flow of electricity to its customers. The approximately $50 million project will reduce the likelihood of extended power outages in the area.

The line runs between Canton and Carrollton through Brown, Center and Harrison townships in Carroll County and Canton, Osnaburg and Sandy townships in Stark County. This project will improve the electric transmission power grid in northeast Ohio.

    Project Updates

The Ohio Power Siting Board (OPSB) granted approval to construct the Carrollton-Sunnyside Transmission line on September 25, 2017.

AEP Ohio Transmission Company, Inc. announced minor route adjustments and filed a new or updated Letter of Notification with the OPSB as the Adjustment to Carrollton-Sunnyside 138-kV Transmission Line in December 2018. The Letter of Notification to construct, operate and maintain this facility is pending before the OPSB. Construction is underway on portions of the route that will remain unchanged.
