Three Rivers Transmission Line Rebuild Project

Indiana Michigan Power (I&M) is rebuilding 69-kilovolt transmission line that connects the Moorepark Substation to the new Ripple Substation in Three Rivers. The improvements in St. Joseph County are essential to ensure continued reliable power is available for customers. The existing transmission infrastructure has reached an age where it is in need of replacement to improve electric service reliability for customers across the region.

Rebuilding approximately 6-miles of transmission line and constructing a new substation decreases the likelihood of outages and speeds recovery of service when outages occur. Aging wood poles will be replaced with steel monopoles.

    Project Updates

Summer 2018: Using information gathered from local residents during the public open house, I&M announces the final proposed line route for the Three Rivers Transmission Line Rebuild Project.

Fall 2017: Indiana Michigan Power (I&M) hosted a public informational open house in September in Three Rivers. During the open house, community members and landowners offered input, asked questions of project team members and learned more about the transmission line. The project team is evaluating the information received to determine the proposed line route.
