North Shreveport - LongwoodTransmission Line Rebuild Project

Southwestern Electric Power Company (SWEPCO) plans to rebuild approximately 16 miles of 138-kilovolt (kV) transmission line to upgrade aging infrastructure and ensure continued reliable power delivery to the northwest Louisiana area.

These upgrades will strengthen the transmission system and help ensure continued reliable service to the area. The company expects to invest nearly $18 million to complete this project.

The project will consist of replacing the existing wood-pole structures with steel single-pole structures beginning at the Arsenal Hill Substation in north Shreveport to the Longwood Substation in Longwood, Louisiana. Construction is expected to start in Fall 2017 and be completed by early 2019.

Project Updates

Crews completed construction on a portion of this project between SWEPCO Longwood Substation and the Raines Road Substation in December 2018. Crews are in the process of completing property restoration as weather permits.

The inclement weather this year has caused a delay for crews to complete the property restoration along the transmission line. Crews plan to complete restoration as soon as the weather allows. Thank you for your understanding during this time.
