AEP Southwestern Electric Power Company plans to rebuild approximately 2 miles of existing transmission line in the Cedar Grove area of Shreveport. Upgrades to the existing 138-kilovolt (kV) system will benefit the area by providing more reliable electric service for growth and economic development. The company expects to invest approximately $5 million on this project.
The Cedar Grove Area Improvements Project consists of replacing the wooden poles with steel single-pole structures and new wire. Minor upgrades will be made at the Linwood and South Shreveport substations. The line was originally built more than 60 years ago. These improvements will bring the system up-to-date and ensure reliable electric service to the community.
Typical distance between structures is 300 feet
Typical pole height is 90-110 feet
