Kentucky Power plans to strengthen the transmission system in eastern Kentucky by upgrading its existing infrastructure. The Cannonsburg Transmission Line Rebuild Project consists of rebuilding approximately 5 miles of transmission line to increase electric reliability and reduce the likelihood of extended outages. Construction is currently underway and is expected to be complete by the end of 2019.
02/05/20 - The project is complete and in service. Right-of-way agents plan to work with landowners in the project area to restore properties where needed.
04/01/19 - The Cannonsburg Transmission Line Rebuild Project continues with tree clearing and construction of access roads. Construction of the transmission line is expected to begin this summer and conclude by the end of the year.
10/15/18 - Crews have begun clearing trees and building access roads to assist in the rebuilding of the transmission line.
5/17/2018 - Kentucky Power held an open house on March 21 to introduce proposed study segments and answer questions related to the project. The right-of-way contractor, Emerald Energy, will begin reaching out to affected property owners.
3/07/2018 - Kentucky Power will hold an informational open house to share project information. The open house will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., Wednesday March 21 at Ponderosa Elementary School. Company representatives will answer questions, share details about the project and gather public input.
